The Frigg UK Pipeline system commences at the Alwyn North Field and consists of 24" diameter pipeline which is 110 km long and connects into the 32" diameter line in the vicinity of the Frigg Field facilities (at the TP1 bypass spool). The line between the TP1 bypass spool and the the Frigg UK Terminal at St Fergus is 362km long. The 32" pipeline was laid and commissioned in 1977 and has been in continuous service since that date. In 2003, the 32" pipeline celebrated its 25th anniversary.
An 18" pipeline from the Piper/Tartan Area enters the system via a sub-sea connection in the vicinity of the decommissioned MCP-01 platform. This is located approximately mid-way between the Frigg Field facilities and the Frigg UK Terminal at St Fergus. There are also tie-ins from the Bruce, Ross, Captain and Buzzard fields.
The nominal capacity of the 32" pipeline is 35 MMscm/d. The actual capacity is a function of gas source location and compositions.
A new field tie-in can be achieved by either a hot-tap or by an inserted tee at any point along the either the 24" Alwyn pipeline or the main 32" pipeline. In addition, entry can be made via any of the facilities tied into the pipeline or at the TP1 or MCP01 bypass spools.
